The Forgotten Initiative

I feel blessed to be a part of an awesome ministry that is being started here in Bloomington. Are you aware of the tremendous needs in the foster care world? I was not. My eyes have been opened!!! Check out the website at: theforgotteninitiative.org and see what it is all about! Wherever you live, regardless of the city or state you are in there are ways to get involved and follow through on God's command to care for the orphans and "the least of these." Too often we hear of sad stories and situations but the need seems so great and then we feel like we are too small to make any kind of difference, but that is a lie from Satan! Don't be passive, take action and let's show foster children, foster parents, agency workers and vulnerable adults that we as believers in Christ have not forgotten them and we want to serve them, love them and encourage them!

Ordinary Hero

Wanted to put a plug in for an opportunity to hear a great orphan advocate speak. Kelly Putty who started "Ordinary Hero" is going to be in Morton, Illinois at the Cornerstone Baptist Church this Saturday, April 9th at 6 pm. Click on the "Ordinary Hero" button that is to the right and see what she is all about. Hope to see you there!

Almost Home From Haiti!

Only about 24 hours before my hubby returns from Haiti! It has been a looooooooooong 8 days! Ha! Ha! Not really, everything has been great and I'll have some awesome pictures to share. The husbands from our small group from church went down to finish building a house that we raised the funds to build. TONIGHT the Estama family will sleep in a safe, dry HOME! Not a stick and mud shanty that looks as if it will collapse at any moment! Praise the Lord! He blesses us so!!! Our group was able to raise the $10,000 needed in a record amount of time. Due to many people who have big hearts and gave!!! Another great aspect of this trip was that Mark got to meet Vicky (our sponsor child) who I talked about in the previous post. Mark said it was awesome! I took Grant to pick out a back pack and toys and clothes for Mark to give to Vicky. Can't wait to show you all the pics. I just have to figure out how to get them from my email to here! :)

Our Little Buddy In Haiti

Have you ever considered sponsoring a child in another country? We sponsor our little guy Vicky in Haiti through "Haitian Christian Ministries." Mark is headed there with the rest of our small group guys (from church) to build a home. We have sent Vicky several care packages but this time we get to send one and Mark will get to meet him! Can't wait to get the pictures of Mark with Vicky! We want to convey to him and his family how much we care about them and that we pray for them daily. We talk about Vicky everyday. It is a wonderful way to teach our kids about others throughout the world who have so much less than we do. And, not just to pray for their health, safety and provision but that they may come to know Jesus and how much he loves them. Alex is holding up a picture that Vicky colored.

Child Labor Works For Me

What good hubby my little guy will be! Hopefully he'll be as eager to vacuum later in life as he is now! Look at him go! (Sorry, forgot to turn it it)

oops, did that one twice!
